Wireless Communication Devices

The School District reserves the right to prohibit the possession or use of wireless communication devices on School District property or at School District-related functions.

For the purposes of this policy, “wireless communication device” means any privately owned electronic device capable of, but not limited to: text messaging, voice communication, entertainment, navigation, accessing the internet, sending/receiving photos and videos, or producing email. This includes cell phones, smartphones, personal laptops, tablets, smartwatches, smart glasses, and other wireless or web-enabled device connections.


In accordance with MCL 380.1303a, students are prohibited from using wireless communication devices on school grounds during instructional time and the school day unless specifically permitted by law or or as set forth in the corresponding RCS administrative regulations. 


The Superintendent shall develop and maintain administrative regulations consistent with this policy.
