Policy in Review
The BOE regularly works with their legal counsel - policy provider to keep board policy up to date. The process for review and consideration goes through a series of steps prior to formal adoption. This process typically carries out over two public meetings. In special circumstances the board has a policy that allows them to waive the 1st reading.
The table below allows the public to review policy updates and new policy considerations as they move through the process. Once policy is officially approved it is then placed in the full policy manual that is available on this webpage.
Regular Approval Process:
Policy Subcommittee Review - thorough review and discussion from the three member committee in conjunction with the Superintendent and Executive Director of Employee Services.
First Reading - Full board consideration and action typically as part of the Consent Agenda at a Regular or Special Meeting to move the policy forward to second reading. *Further changes or clarifications can be requested prior to the next step.
Second Reading - Full board consideration through a Resolution at a Regular or Special Meeting with formal action for adoption.
