Advanced Placement
Advanced PlacementAdvanced Placement
Deciding to take an AP course lets colleges and universities know that you have what it takes to succeed in an undergraduate environment. When admissions officers see “AP” on your transcript, they know that what you experienced in a particular class has prepared you well for the challenges of college. Taking AP is a sign that you’re up for the most rigorous classes your high school has to offer. By taking an AP course and scoring successfully on the related AP Exam, you can save on college expenses: most colleges and universities nationwide offer college credit, advanced placement, or both, for qualifying AP Exam scores. These credits can allow students to save college tuition, study abroad, or secure a second major. AP can transform what once seemed unattainable into something within reach.

Annual Education Reports
Annual Education Report (AER)
The AER is designed to meet the federal requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act for an annual report. The Combined Report provides detailed data on state administered student assessment results, teacher qualification information, civil rights information, and the state results for the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP). There is a Combined Report populated with the appropriate information for the state, each LEA, and each school. This year's report will not have the student assessment and accountability data due to federal waivers being applied last year.

Dual Enrollment
Dual Enrollment
Dual enrollment is a process by which high school students may enroll in college courses for high school and college credit. The Postsecondary Enrollment Option Act (PA 160 of 1996) establishes the opportunity for Michigan high school students to dual enroll in college courses at Michigan postsecondary institutions when certain criteria are met. High school students need to be continually challenged in order to maintain their academic interests and such challenges must include rigorous academic pursuits. Providing a wider variety of options to students by encouraging and enabling them to dual enroll assures new and exciting academic challenges. For more information, please consult our Postsecondary Dual Enrollment Handbook.
