Dear Indian Hills Families,

Our district is continuing our commitment to preparedness for school safety situations.  Earlier this week, I met with our students in grade level groups to provide age-appropriate refreshers on safety drill procedures, including fire, severe weather, lockdown, and  AVERT alert messages and evacuation procedures in the event that an emergency situation requires students to exit the building. The primary message provided to all students was that, in any emergency situation at school, students should listen to the teacher/supervising adult who is with them. Students had the opportunity to ask questions, and over the course of the week, we practiced several safety drills.  Regular practice of safety procedures is required by our state and helps to keep our students familiar with what to do in the event an emergency arises, so we will continue to practice these drills periodically throughout the school year. School safety is our number one priority in Romeo. With the systems and procedures that we have in place, we have been proactive, and are prepared in the unlikely event that they may have to be used. Please feel free to contact me if questions arise.

Additional News and Notes:

Facilities Bond Proposal Fact Card: Thank you for your support of Romeo Community Schools. The November 4 Bond Proposal will complete the long-range facilities plan without increasing the current tax rate. Please look for a fact card in your child’s backpack this week for more information. You can also click on the Reaching the Finish Together badge on the district website.

District Handbook Update: Effective September 15, we've updated the Student-Parent Handbook's language regarding student absences to align with our schools' current practices. This change ensures accurate and consistent record-keeping across all buildings. We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain a safe and well-documented learning environment for all students. Please use the link below to review both the current language and the protocol that will go into effect on Monday. Feel free to contact your child’s school with any questions that may arise.
