Indian Hills Weekly News

December 5, 2025

Dear Indian Hills Families,

Today we had our December Bulldog Round-Up, our monthly schoolwide assembly. At today’s Round-Up, we:

  • Heard about our schoolwide Giving Tree community service project. All tags have been taken! We thank everyone who selected a tag off of our Giving Tree. If you are participating, please send your wrapped gift to school by Friday, December 12.  Attach the tag you selected from the tree so we know who the gift is meant for (the tags are coded to the recipients). Thank you to all who are helping to bring a little holiday cheer to children in need in our own school community!

  • Talked about our next monthly focus: FIN-tastic friends show EMPATHY.

  • Announced our Student Leaders of the Month. These leaders were selected by their classmates for best exhibiting last month’s focus: Integrity is SHRIMPLY essential!

  • Heard about our grade levels’ progress on their WIGs (Wildly Important Goals). Our school’s overall WIG performance increased from 70% in October to 74% in November. Let’s keep working on our IXL recommendations to increase our performance even more in December!

  • Heard from Mrs. Loose’s Kindergarten Class, Mrs. Martin’s First Grade Class, Mr. Nieman’s Fifth Grade Class, and Ms. Tinsley’s Fifth Grade Class, who all proudly shared their class mission statements.

  • Celebrated our BARK students and Paw Point class milestones.

You can check out our full livestream of the Round-Up on our Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/IHRomeo.

Additional News and Notes:

‘Tis the season… for snow gear! This week brought our first significant snowfall for this year, and it was wonderful to see so many kids prepared for recess fun with their snow gear! We will go outdoors for recess daily as long as the temperature is at least 0 degrees (real temp or wind chill/”feels like”) and the weather conditions are not extreme.  This temperature designation is based on the National Weather Service’s wind chill safety guide, which indicates the temperatures and wind speeds at which frostbite may occur on exposed skin when outdoors for a length of 30 minutes or more. Our student recesses are much shorter than 30 minutes at a time.

Even when there is not snow on the ground in the winter months,  we want our students to get into the habit of bringing their snowbag (snow boots, snow pants, gloves, hat, etc) to school daily from now through the winter.  It can be quite chilly and wet this time of year, and the snow gear helps them to stay toasty and their clothes dry.  There are also many times during this season that students are required to have boots and snow pants in order to get off of the blacktop area; this helps to keep the outdoor slop out of our classrooms. Be sure to label all items with your child’s name/family last name!

December 10 & 11- Santa Shop: Students will have a chance to shop our Santa Shop for everyone on their Nice List at our annual Parent Club Santa Shop! A flyer with a shopping schedule and much more information was sent home with your child this week. Please return the envelope that was sent home to your child's teacher on their class shopping day (gifts range from $0.50 - $8 each). Filling out the shopping list helps our elves check everyone from students' list. Do you want to join the festive fun? We need VOLUNTEERS! Sign up here...  https://signup.com/go/XUbncvm
