Welcome to Hevel Elementary

Norman B. Hevel Elementary School was named in honor of a beloved Washington Elementary School principal. The school opened in the fall of 2002, and its official dedication ceremony was held on October 6, 2002. Mr. Hevel began his career in Romeo as a 7th grade teacher in 1954. In 1955 he was appointed principal and held that position until his retirement in June of 1980.  We continue his vision of education as we feature all of the updated equipment students need to compete in a technological world.  We are dedicated to ensure that our students are engaged in their learning and will be empowered to succeed in their future.

I have been employed by Romeo Community Schools since 2002.  I started as a Social Studies and American History teacher at Romeo Middle School.  In 2011, I became the Assistant Principal at Romeo Middle School.  Since 2015, I have been the proud Principal at Hevel Elementary School!!  I graduated from Central Michigan University, Fire Up Chips, with my Bachelor of Science in Education degree.  I have also earned a Masters in the Art of Teaching from Marygrove College and my Administration certificate through MASSP.  I currently live in East China with my two boys, Braylon and Braxton and my loving wife Kate.  We have been married since 2002.  I am so thankful that I have had the opportunity to spend my entire professional career in Romeo and I am so proud to be a Bulldog!
